FORGENIUS.

FORest GENetic Resources Information and Services for End-USers

FORGENIUS is a European Horizon 2020 project studying the genetic diversity of European forests and their ability to adapt to climate change, bringing together expertise ranging from genomics and remote sensing to ecology and modelling.

NewtVision is a technology partner in the project. Our work focused on developing the new web application for EUFGIS — the European Information System on Forest Genetic Resources, turning large amounts of scientific data into tools that researchers, forest managers and conservation professionals can explore and use.

The platform combines information on Europe's Genetic Conservation Units with climate, environmental, geographical, genetic and phenotypic data collected and produced by the project. Interactive maps and data search and exploration tools allow users to move from a Europe-wide overview down to individual conservation units and the forest populations they contain.

A project where web development, databases, GIS and data integration become tools for better understanding Europe's forests and supporting their conservation.
